By Rik Rösken Atlantis is the second movie of Luc Besson that has the underwaterworld as environment. However, you won't be confronted by any freedivers or technical divers, and the only true dialogue is spoken by ununderstandable non human actors. The movie Atlantis is Luc Besson presentation of the underwater nature, and he has a very unique way to do that together with the music of Eric Serra. The actors are the underwatercreatures and just like with The Big Blue it is the music that plays an important role. A comparison with the recent movie Deep Blue and the Blue Planet series is more then logical. Atlantis is not only older, but there is also less work invested compared with Deep Blue. It is due this difference that Deep Blue has captured more amazing and larger events. While Deep Blue and especially the Blue Planet series are more scientifically developpeld, is Atlantis story a more mystical one. Humankind is remembered to his aquatic origin and confronts the vieuwer with elf different subjects like love, movement and birth. The difference between Atlantis and Deep Blue is also more better described as the difference between art and science. Instead of the scientically way how Deep Blue is categorically presented, tries Luc Besson present a more spiritually way. Based on that grounds, it could be said that Atlantis might be closer to the spiritual world of the freedivers then Deep Blue. The movie, that takes about 74 minutes, is released by Columbia Tristar and can be bought at the better DVD shops. Read also: |
