The founder of the site is Rik Rösken. It is uncertain when Rik really started with freediving. Already during his youth, he was more underwater than above it. Freediving wasn't known yet when he dived, and this resulted in starting in 1997 with the next best thing; scuba diving.

This changed in 2001 when he met a group freedivers who trained for the world championschip in Ibiza. After joining him and joined the new organization in 2001, AIDA The Netherlands.
During the several years he followed, he engaged in several national and international championships and followed courses and workshops like the AIDA International 1*
Instructors course with former world record holder Jean-Pol Francois. In 2004 he followed a forced cross over and was one of the first instructors who got the NFDB Pool instructor Certificate. Rik also joined in 2004 the Dutch team as competitor at the World Championchip for Teams in Vancouver, Canada.
Rik featured at the 2005 world championschip in Renens, Switersland and is co-author of the first Dutch handbook on diving medicine. For 2006 he hopes to finish his study in medicine at the University of Utrecht.
